Illinois Basketball announces sellout of remaining 2024 Tickets
Illinois Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball announced on Tuesday afternoon Via Twitter or “X” (@IlliniMBB) that the remainder of the 2024 tickets have been sold out. Fans are still able to purchase tickets for the remaining games, however, they will have to be purchased through a fan-to-fan ticket market. Seat Geek is the recommended fan-to-fan marketplace per the Illinois Athletic Department.
The official announcement from The Illinois Men’s Basketball page on “X” reads as seen below:
“The Illini FamILLy always comes through. The rest of the season has sold out! If you’re still looking to make it to a game, check SeatGeek, the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace for the Fighting Illini.
What it means?
Of course, this Illini team has seen a boost in confidence and play as their star Terrance Shannon re-adjusts into the lineup and gameplan. Role players have continued to step up and make their presence know. As well as the bench for Illinois getting healthy, just in time to clean off the rust before March. The outlook for the rest of this season is exciting for the Illini faithful, as we near march.
However, most importantly for this fanbase, winning has become not only consistent, but expected. A long way they have come as a program, and as a fanbase since the John Groce era in Central Illinois. Remember those days? Illinois basketball fans are a rowdy and loyal bunch, and it has been a long time coming for these folks to grasp such consistent success, to which has not been accustom since 2005.
An everlastingly infamous movie quote once stated “If you build it, they will come.” looking back on Josh Whitman’s “We Will Win” speech and promise he gave to Illinois fans at his introductory presser, I am sure today feels damn good.
