Tommy DeVito Stars in NHL Promo
Former Illinois Quarterback Tommy DeVito was the star of the show in Saturday’s (2-17) pro hockey matchup between the New Jersey Devils, and the Philadelphia Flyers. The game occurred at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey, as part of the “NHL Stadium Series”. The hosting Devils took down the Flyers 6-3, and sent the Jersey crowd home happy. In pregame, the Devils dressed in “Sopranos” themed outfits, to sport some fun for the New Jersey fans.
Former Illini Tommy DeVito was a celebrity representative of the New Jersey culture. Featured in a cool, pre-game hype promotion, for the unique hockey showdown. Tommy describes the New Jersey lifestyle to hockey fans, and what it means to him. Of course, this comes shortly after Tommy was featured in a Pizza Hut commercial for the 2024 Super Bowl. He has certainly maximized his likeness as a fun character, and will certainly be a memorable name in Jersey for quite some time. A young man who truly loves and embraces his culture
Background
For those who may not know, “Tommy Cutlets” is a native of Livingston New Jersey. The former Illini has become a sensation in the New Jersey area, as the hometown kid had to step up for the New York Giants. DeVito played in the injury absence of Daniel Jones. Tommy was able to lead the Giants to some fun wins and made things interesting in New York with a rookie Quarterback. DeVito and his family live a short drive away from Giants host MetLife stadium, where he attended Don Bosco Prep High School. Which, in itself was a fun story during the 2023 season. The young man spent the 2022 season in Champaign and took Illinois to new levels with an 8-4 season, which has not happened for Illinois football since 2007. Furthermore, leading Illinois to the ReliaQuest Bowl, where they lost to #22 Mississippi State 19-10.
