Susan Olsen, the actress who played Cindy on The Brady Bunch, claims CBS scrapped a modern revival of the classic sitcom because of alt-right politics and support for Donald Trump. But Variety reports that the show only got to the early planning stages and was actually derailed due to homophobic hate speech by Olsen that also got her fired from a radio job. The planned revival was set to focus on the adult Brady children, with Olsen’s character portrayed as a libertarian podcaster. “I was like, ‘Wow, I’ve been canceled.’ A role that I’ve played for over 50 years, I can’t play it now because I’m too dangerous,” she told a Vanity Fair podcast. The former child star also revealed the show was meant to modernize the Brady Bunch, including a trans character and a Brady with a Black spouse, which Olsen opposed for feeling forced. She said the revival is now “dead in the water.” (Variety)
