Domestic box office revenue was $8.7 billion in 2024, down 3.3% from 2023 and 23.5% from 2019. Admissions also declined to 800 million from pre-COVID levels. The 2023 actors and writers strikes were named as a cause.

Marvin Gaye III, son of Motown legend Marvin Gaye, is facing allegations of assault, battery, and false imprisonment. A lawsuit filed in L.A. by a Jane Doe alleges violent and threatening acts by Gaye, including physical assault.
