Mastodon drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor is teasing the band’s next album, telling Metal Hammer that the songs on the record sound “all over the place.”

“I hear some punk rock in there, but then I hear some insane prog and I hear the heaviest version of ourselves poking its head out again,” Dailor shares. “You can talk all day about what you want to do, but at the end of the day it governs itself – it pulls you where your heart is.”

Dailor adds that the upcoming effort will be a “supernatural horror” concept album. If all that sounds good to you, you shouldn’t have to wait too long to hear it.

“I don’t see a world in which it does not come out in 2025,” Dailor says.

Mastodon’s most recent album is 2021’s Hushed and Grim.

In addition to likely putting out a new album in 2025, Mastodon’s other future plans include a tour with Coheed and Cambria kicking off in May.
