While Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross went home winners at Sunday’s Golden Globes, another rock band got a much more unexpected shout-out.
In introducing Glenn Close to the stage to present the award for best motion picture – drama, host Nikki Glaser jokingly included “former drummer for System of a Down” as one of the Fatal Attraction star’s many accolades.
Guitarist Daron Malakian has since posted the clip on his Instagram, writing in the caption, “Bet you didn’t know!!!!!”
“Somewhere between our first drummer and John [Dolmayan], Glenn Close was tearing s*** up on the drums for us!!!!!!” Malakian adds.
If nothing else, Close proved that she could’ve been in a band that’s earned several parental advisory stickers over their career when she dropped an f-bomb during her speech.
Perhaps Close will catch System of a Down live during their summer stadium shows in Chicago, Toronto and East Rutherford, New Jersey. Depending on the date, the bill will also include Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones or Korn.
