On Monday, Springfield Clinic announced that a new pediatric health care clinic will open Thursday, Oct 13 in Bloomington-Normal.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on the 13 at their new address on Jacobssen Drive. The ceremony will start at 4:30 pm with an open house beginning after the cutting and lasting until 6:30.

“Springfield Clinic’s commitment is to bring and keep the highest quality health care close to home. Bloomington-Normal is a vibrant community, and we are thrilled to be expanding into the market with a new pediatric office and specialty outreach center,” says Cal Thomas, Chief Development Officer. “Springfield Clinic has been providing care for patients in this community for many years and our new location provides the opportunity to improve the experience of our patients via less travel and allowing new patients increased access for the services they need.”

Along with the announcement of the new location, the clinic announced that Shad Beaty, MD and Molly Lund, MD will be brought on as the lead health care specialists. Beaty and Lund come to Normal after previously practicing in Morton.

Both doctors come back to their roots in the same area where Beaty and Lund attended college. Beaty earned his undergraduate degree in Bloomington at Illinois Wesleyan University. Beaty then would go on to get his degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. Lund also earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois in Peoria.

“Besides being a mother, the only other thing I ever wanted to be was a pediatrician,” Beaty said via press release. “I was always drawn to pediatrics because children are always changing, and each family is unique. But they all share the same goal when it came to their child’s well-being, and I wanted to be a part of that.”

In addition to a pediatric clinic, the Springfield Clinic is offering specialty services. At this time those are not known, with the press release saying that more information will be known closer to opening.

Springfield Clinic has over 80 locations in more than 20 counties. Yearly the clinics serve over 500,000 patients per year.
