Blackhawks fall by a goal against Kings

The Los Angeles Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 on Sunday to break their three-game losing streak. Jaret Anderson-Dolan led the way for the Kings with a pair of goals. Anderson-Dolan quickly struck in each of the first two periods to put the Kings up 2-0. Ian Mitchell brought the game within one possession midway through the third period. But the Blackhawks fizzled out and could not complete the comeback. The loss breaks a three-game winning streak for Chicago.

Redbirds trounced by Valpo

Illinois State men’s basketball dropped its third straight game Saturday with a blowout 71-51 loss against Valparaiso. ISU struggled out of the gate scoring just 24 points in the first half. The struggles continued as the Redbirds came out of halftime shooting less than 40% from field goal range and three-point range.

Wheaton takes down IWU with last-second free throw

With less than one second left on the clock, Illinois Wesleyan’s hopes went down the drain. With 0.4 seconds left, Wheaton nailed a pair of free throws to turn the momentum and hand the Titans a 72-71 loss.

NFL Divisional round recap

Chiefs withstand Mahomes’ injury in 27-20 win

The Jacksonville Jaguars got to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes early in the first quarter of Saturday’s game. Despite missing the rest of the quarter and all of the second quarter, Mahomes returned to roaring applause in the second half. Travis Kelce wrangled in 14 passes for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Giants collapse at Eagles

Jalen Hurts returned to form on Sunday after over a month battling a shoulder injury beating the New York Giants 38-7. The Eagles’ high-flying offense went up 28-0 going into halftime and used a strong running game to secure the win. Hurts finished the game throwing 16-for-26 for 158 yards with two touchdowns in the air and another on the ground.

Bengals stun Bills

Through the snowy match-up, the all-white-clad Cincinnati Bengals had their way with the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills winning 27-10. Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase’s familiar connection returned on Sunday connecting five times for 61 yards and a touchdown. Joe Burrow continued his claim as one of the best quarterbacks in the league throwing for 242 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs next Sunday in the AFC Championship game.

49ers outlast Cowboys

Down by seven, the Dallas Cowboys had a chance to tie the powerhouse San Fransisco 49ers with time running out. What ensued was one of the most confusing play calls in recent playoff history. Lining up just one offensive lineman (Ezekial Elliot) the 49ers were easily able to get to Dak Prescott to finish the game 19-12. San Fransisco will take on the Eagles Sunday in Philadelphia.
